Terms of Use

1. Who can use the app

KonKon Japanese is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use the app with the permission of a parent or guardian.

2. A free service

KonKon Japanese is free to use without an account. Google sign-in is optional and lets you sync progress across devices. If we ever offer paid features, we will tell you before anything is charged and update these terms first.

3. Learning content

We take care to make the Japanese, the readings, and the notes on culture accurate and natural. Even so, mistakes can happen, and the content is for general learning only. It is not professional advice, and it should not be relied on for translation, travel, legal or other decisions where accuracy matters.

4. What you may not do

When using KonKon Japanese, you agree not to:

• copy, redistribute, sell or publish the app's content or images, except as allowed by law;
• use automated means to scrape or download the content in bulk, or to train machine learning models on it;
• disrupt, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to the app or the systems that run it;
• get around any security or technical limits of the app;
• use the app for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms other people.

5. Ownership of content and images

The lessons, texts, characters, illustrations and other images in KonKon Japanese, and the app itself, belong to us or are used with permission. You may use them for your own personal learning. Nothing in these terms gives you any other right to them.

6. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, free of errors, or fit for a particular purpose.

Guest progress is saved only in your browser and can be lost if browser data is cleared. Signed-in progress is also synced to our server, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability or recovery. See the Privacy Policy for details.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including loss of learning progress. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including consumer protection law in your country.

8. Changes and ending the service

We may change, pause or stop the app, or any part of it, at any time. We may also update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and by continuing to use the app you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. This does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
